Hawk Woodland Walk Experience

Friday 5th April, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

(also running 29th May and 22nd June)

Take a leisurely walk through the forest area of Rufford with a majestic Hawk.  But that’s not all,  you will have the extraordinary opportunity to don a glove and experience the exhilaration of flying your own bird of prey.

(Recommended for Age 6+) under 6’s welcome with parental consent and will need to be supervised at all times

Fairytale Trail

30th March – 14th April, 2024

Our Fairytale Trail is a magical journey that winds through the ancient woods, offering an enchanted experience for families and nature enthusiasts alike. Each step will lead you to ten mystical locations, every one linked to a fascinating Fairytale creature and the incredible wildlife that calls the forest home.

Come dressed in your most enchanting attire, and let the magic of Sherwood Forest capture your imagination this Easter!

Pick up your Fairytale Trail booklet at the Visitor Centre between 10am – 3pm. An enchanted treat awaits you on completion of the Trail!

Have-a-go Archery

30th March 2024

Think you’ve got what it takes to be an outlaw? Here’s the chance to put your archery skills to the test, at the home of Robin Hood!

The Sherwood Outlaws will be providing one-to-one instruction at the Major Oak £3 for 5 arrows!

This archery session will be led by none other than the the infamous Sheriff of Nottingham along with his villainous acquaintance, Sir Roger of Doncaster!

Drop in any time between 10am and 3pm.

 


Easter Egg Trail

Sat 9th March – Friday 12th April

10 small animals are hidden around the Crags, and each has a secret letter. Collect all 10 letters and rearrange them to discover the mystery word. 

Once you've solved the word, return to reception to collect your prize. Choose from a chocolate Easter egg, a chocolate bunny, a free-from bunny or a Nomo free-from egg*

£3.50 per person, includes a chocolate egg prize when you return to Reception after your hunt. No need to book, just pay at reception for your trail sheet.

*While stocks last. If we run out of easter eggs we will substitute the prize for an alternative sweet treat of similar value.



Bertie the Beaver's Trail at Belvoir Castle

27th March - 7th April

Welcome to Belvoir Woodland Quest: Bertie's Easter Expedition! Embark on a magical journey through the enchanting grounds of Belvoir Castle Gardens with Bertie the Beaver. Follow the paw prints, discover hidden clues, and join Bertie along with Sylvie the Squirrel, Mossy the Mouse, Oswald the Owl and many more on a whimsical adventure through the Rose Garden! Complete the quest and return to the castle, where a special chocolate surprise awaits. Bertie and his friends invite you to claim your Easter treasure and celebrate the joy of spring in the heart of Belvoir Castle Gardens.

Gloworm Festival Easter Trail at Holme Pierrepont Country Park!

Join us at Holme Pierrepont Country Park from the 23rd March - 15th April for our Easter Trail. Find all of the Gloworm pictures located around the map and write their number in the correct box. Trail sheets will be available from Desperate measures.

Easter Family Trail at Clumber Park

29th March – 14th April 10-3pm

Join us for a fun-packed Easter adventure, with lots of activities to keep the little ones entertained.

Collect your Easter Family Trail sheet from the Discovery Centre before heading out towards the Mansion Site and Front Field to begin your adventure.

Can you balance your egg on the spoon without dropping it or hop like a bunny in the sack race? Don't forget to look for the fairies hiding in the trees!

No booking required, the trail is £3 per person. Admission into the park applies.

 

Let Easter Adventures at Hardwick Hall

Enjoy uncovering the different activity trail stations inspired by the creativity of the Hardwick collections, nature in the gardens & parkland, and good old-fashioned Easter fun - each station is more exciting than the last! Once the kids have raced from each activity, encourage them to plant a seed at the very last stop and pick up their prize!

£3 per child (for both members and non-members). A trail must be purchased for each participant to ensure all children will get their chocolate egg at the end.

What’s included?

Trail activities, bunny ears and a chocolate egg. There is also the option for a vegan and free from chocolate egg.

Non-members: standard admission applies.

 

Easter Adventures at Belton

Give Belton’s Gardens Team a hand preparing for spring on an Easter trail through the Pleasure Grounds and Formal Gardens, with a range of activities inspired by nature, wildlife, and gardening.

Make your way along the trail and find nature-inspired activities for the whole family. The trail takes place between 27 March - 14 April, from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm, so come along and explore the beautiful gardens at Belton. Prices are £3 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.

 

Easter egg hunts at Calke Abbey

23rd March – 7th April 10am – 4.30pm

This spring, treat the whole family to a world of adventure at Calke Abbey on an Easter trail.

There's a choice of two main trails to pick from:

- The long trail takes you around the parkland and Calke Explore.

- The shorter, accessible trail is suitable for little legs, exploring the Pleasure Grounds and stableyards.

- For those looking for a bigger adventure, there's also the option of an orienteering trail.

Prices are £3 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears, and don't forget, you can choose from either a chocolate egg or a vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.


Blossom arch at Calke Abbey

Blossom is arriving early this season, with an ever-blooming arch in the Pleasure Grounds. The arrival of blossom is one of the most spectacular sights in spring. To mark the occasion, a handmade blossom arch will adorn the Pleasure Grounds.

Walk beneath and take in showers of handcrafted blooms made from recycled materials. Until 30th April



Easter Egg Hunt at The Children's Country House at Sudbury

This spring, treat the whole family to a world of adventure at The Children's Country House at Sudbury on an Easter trail based on Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice in Wonderland. Join us in finding the White Rabbit followed by croquet on the lawn, and many other activities.

Come and join in this cool workshop that's all about Fish! Watch how they swim and learn some fun facts about them while also getting involved in some crafts and colouring!

Our My Pet Pals workshops help to teach children how rewarding pets can be and how to care for them, making sure you and your children are all clued up on pet welfare and responsible pet ownership – you'll get a truly hands-on approach to pet care.

Aimed at 8 – 13 year olds.

This fun and interactive workshop offers an introduction to the art of puppetry. Starting with lots of warm up games and puppetry specific exercises, participants will be shown how to make a simple paper puppet and will create a short performance piece to share with the group. No previous experience necessary.

Team up with your puppet to tackle the exciting assault course challenge. Inspired by the legendary ‘Tough Mudder’ competition, teams climb, crawl, and swing their way around the circuit and test their new-found skills!

Explore Green’s Windmill, the millyard, science centre and community garden for our hidden eggs and win a bumper prize pack for your efforts!

Our Easter egg hunt runs from Friday 29th March to Sunday 31st March. Due to the small nature of our venue please book an arrival slot in advance so we can manage the number of people on site.
