The Knights Of Nottingham Jousting are back on Monday 8th May. We can't wait to bring a special jousting tournament to you in celebration of the Kings Coronation.

There will be two performances at 12pm and 2pm, with plenty of other entertainment in between including live music, carnival style games, free face painting and delicious food & drink!

Ashfield Celebrates the King’s Coronation – Saturday 6th May

Residents are formally invited to celebrate the King’s Coronation with Ashfield District Council’s big screen showing the ceremony followed by a screening of family favourite film, Paddington 2.

The free event will run from 10am – 3pm (the time is approximate and subject to change dependant on the time of the Coronation but will be confirmed in advance of the event). Visitors will be able to shop with more than 45 market stalls including crafts, gifts, and foodie favourites from the Food and Drink Festival - Jamaican food from Back-a-Yard Cuisine; Blondie Brownie Bakes; vegan and gluten free sweets from Bear and Bee Sweet Company; speciality cheese; burgers; crepes; and Asian street food from Shola and Spice.

There will also be free face painting, and a walkabout prince and princess for families to enjoy.

Community Event with free Brass Band. 1940's singer, bouncy castles and children's entertainment. Also lots of stall holders and some fairground rides. Traditional tea and scones from the cafe, cakes from the WI, hot dog stall and side shows from local groups, individuals and entertainers. The park also has play area, tennis and limited parking. Newark Royal Market

Coronation Celebrations – Saturday 6th May

To mark the Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort, community celebrations will take place in Newark Royal Market with music, face painting, children’s activities and a live screening of the event. Picnic tables will be available near the large open-air screen in the market place for friends and family wishing to bring along their ‘Big Lunch’ to share food and fun! With Newark Town Hall providing a historic backdrop for the live screening and a canopy of bunting above the market stalls, it’s set to be a memorable day.

The Village Coronation Committee are hosting a coronation Big Lunch Street Party

When: Saturday May 6

What: Meal at tables in the street. Dance band, music MC, quiz, sports and games for all ages, art activities for children, face painting, tattoos, treasure hunt and supervised bouncy castle.

Where: Main Street between Spring Lane and Woods Lane, NG23 5LA

Additional: Disabled access with toilets available in the Boot and Shoe Inn. Planned prices - £2 per ticket, £5 to reserve a table. Tickets include street food supplied by the Boot and Shoe Inn.

Ruddington Village Market presents coronation screen on the green

When: Saturday May 6 from 9am.

What: Outdoor cinema showing live broadcast of the coronation and then The Lion King from 3pm. There will also be 70 stalls of street food, drinks (including the market bar) and gifts with music from the community choir. Listen to the storyteller, enjoy face painting and capture memories of the day in the photo booth.

Coronation Picnic

When: Sunday May 7

What: St Peter’s Church will hold its morning service on The Green, followed by the big ‘Ruddington Coronation Picnic’ from 12pm onwards. Everyone is invited to bring their own food and refreshments but there will be ice cream available to buy. Nottingham Concert Band and other musicians will be entertaining those gathered, while resident Barbara Breakwell and the Ruddington Scouts will have games organised for children during the afternoon.

We have lots of activities for both children and adults. All are FREE, you can drop in anytime that your local library is open from Saturday 29th April to Saturday 6th May.

Children can make their own crown and flag ready for the big day, plus bookmarks, bunting and more, or they can build a castle fit for the King out of our LEGO. Adults can colour some bunting to help decorate the library and also collect a special seed paper to plant to commemorate the day (whilst stocks last).

Refreshments are available too.

We will be having a party in our garden and everyone is welcome to bring a picnic, refreshments will also be available from the Old Stables Tearoom. There will be entertainment and craft activities for the kids.
