Halloween and October Half Term Events 2023

Here's our round up of everything happening in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire over the two week half term break. If you have an event you would like to add, please just let us know!

Monster Spotting - Free

Monday 23 October to Sunday 5 November 2023.

Look out for the monsters at Theatre Royal, Bravissimo on Bridlesmith Gate, Victoria Centre – at the main entrance and at the Clock Tower entrance – The Cornerhouse, Nottingham Castle and Binks Yard – look up, you really won’t be able to miss them!


31st October Events

Monster-mash disco in the bandstand at Nottingham Castle. There will be a fabulous lineup of themed performers and free face painters will be on hand to complete your fancy dress - plus a pumpkin selfie station for you to snap at photo at from 11am to 3pm. Even better - it's free admission to Nottingham Castle on 31 October, as part of the Nottingham Halloween Festival.


Batman and his Batmobile will be making a special guest appearance on Bolero Square at Motorpoint Arena for photo opportunities throughout the day from 10:30am to 4pm.

Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters of course! Catch the iconic Ecto-1 and the Ghostbusters on King Street between 10:30am and 4pm.


Children over three years of age can make their Halloween outfits come to life by visiting our boooo-tiful face painters who can be found at the following locations across the city centre from 11am to 3pm.

Creepy Carnival of Horrors!

28th October 2023

Location: Mansfield Market Place Leeming Street

Time: 10:30 - 16:00

  • Come dressed as your favourite scary character when you visit our Spooky Halloween event organised by Mansfield BID

  • Visit the Haunted House

  • Meet the little princesses – Harry Potter themed characters, with wizardry activities

  • Decorate a pumpkin shape activity

  • Free witches hats and Halloween headbands

  • Face painting

  • Trick or treat trail

Mark the date, gather your loved ones and join us at the Creepy Carnival of Horrors, an event that promises to be a thrilling and fun-filled experience for everyone.


Half Term Halloween Spooktacular Tuesday October 24th 11-4pm


Rushcliffe Borough Council’s free event takes place in the town from 11am to 4pm and will welcome Halloween-themed entertainment including street performers, biscuit decorating and potion making workshops, games, storytelling and more!

Super Sparkle entertainment and their not so spooky crew will be performing the interactive programme of games, music, storytelling and magic!

The Botanist West Bridgford will also be there to help your little witches and wizards brew up some spooktacular potions to try!

As part of the event, West Bridgford Way is launching an exclusive Halloween trail which will run until the end of the month. Visit each of the following participating businesses and purchase any Halloween themed product to gain your stamp. Collect all five stamps to receive a specially designed Halloween tote bag!

The Botanist, The Parlour, Little Green, Rainbows and Lemondrops, Fordes

Loyalty cards will be available to collect from Tuesday October 24 at any of the participating venues.



Come rain or shine, Derbion’s little shoppers can get involved in the centre’s Trick or Treat activity this Halloween with lots of stores ready to welcome your little monsters. Families can follow a trail throughout the centre, going from store to store to collect a whole host of fang-tastic sweet treats along the way*


When is the Trick or Treat happening?

The Big Trick or Treat is happening on Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st of October from 10 am until 4pm. You can get your bag ready to collect your goodies from our spooky desk on level 1 outside Boots.


What else is happening in Derbion this Halloween?

30th October – 10am – 4pm

DJ Dracula

Our resident vampire DJ will be playing all the Halloween tunes and tracks to get the Ghosts, Gremlins, Witches and Bats dancing.


31st October – 10am – 4pm

Face painting

Let our talented face painters turn your little one into wicked characters from vampires to Frankenstein. Outside Boots Level 1 from 10 am – 4 pm.

Balloon Modelling

See our batty balloon modeller work their magic twisting and turning balloons into incredible creepy creations. Outside Boots Level 1 from 10 am – 4 pm.


All of our activities are free, however, donations on the day are appreciated for our charity of the year Children First Derby.

We have lots of different shapes and sizes to choose from as well as loads of tasty squash!

SCARECROW AND PUMPKIN FESTIVAL

SAT 21 UNTIL 31ST OCTOBER 2023, FROM 10AM

  • Free Pumpkin for every paying child. We’ll scoop it out for you for some mess free carving in the carving canopy.

  • Creepy animal meet and greets accross the day.

  • Head to Scarecrow School to perfect your scaring skills. (Grown ups required and will look very silly)

  • Watch the awesome Bird of Prey Flying Display

  • Do some spooky scrambling in the Spider Maze

  • Toast marshmallows at the fire pit. (£1 extra charge)


Join us for Halloween fun on the farm this October half term.

From 21st to 31st October 2023, explore our spooky maize maze and experience Ghoul School in the woodlands. There's a free pumpkin for paying child to carve and take home!

The farm park and woodlands will be open daily from 10am to 5pm:

Our frighteningly family friendly Halloween festival raising money for the Children's Bereavement Centre

Children's wristbands are £10 and allows access into the:

-Trick or treat tent: Who will you meet in our trick or treat experience…will there be a good or bad surprise lurking behind our 4 dressed-up doors? Enter if you dare, for tricks and treats!

- Creepy Carn-evil: Roll up roll up! Take part in our creepy carnival games. Have a scream on our inflatable Helter Skelter that stands at a whopping 23ft high! Loop a limb in our hair-raising hoop toss game, hook a Halloween duck, and test your aim with our cursed can alley, knock down as many monster themed tins as you can.

-Halloween goodie bag: Includes a Gizmos Lab pot of slime and a Comic Sanctum superhero comic to take home with you.


Also taking place in the castle grounds:

Pumpkin Picking: Pick your Hardy's Farndon pumpkin from the spooky garden trail and decorate it to display at home. (Pumpkins will be charged for)

Fancy dress: Goodie bags will be awarded for best dressed (under 16’s) so get your costumes ready!

20th and 21st October Join us in the walled kitchen garden for two days of celebrations, full of apple-themed activities for the whole family to enjoy. Halloween Decoration Workshops

Get creative this half term and create your own decoration to display in your home for Halloween. Join us in the stableyards and paint your own spooky design or have a go at making a pom pom spider. This activity is available on a first-come, first-served basis, while materials last!

We have partnered with Zoe's Party Animals so you can enter the Addams Family Spooky Garden and meet the Addams Family pets! We will have a range of mini beasts and small furries for you to hold and have your photo taken with!

No Addams Family Party would be complete without you being able to craft your own "Thing" to take home and keep!

We will also have our amazing children's Halloween Buffet for them to enjoy and of course a Halloween Menu for adults to order from.

Come along to Nottingham Cathedral for our FREE Discovery Day during October half term, with arts, crafts and an activity trail. Make a stained glass window or design your own stencil or monogram. Then take part in a trail around the Cathedral grounds to learn more about AWN Pugin, you could even win a prize!

MUSIC MAKING MADNESS Holiday Club Wednesday 01 November - Friday 03 November, 10am-3pm £65, Suitable for ages 9-14* Work with members of DeepDown Brass, a six-piece brass and drums group with a huge repertoire of brassy pop hits, to make music madness using real instruments and percussion made from rubbish. Join us for our full day Bushcraft session. Use natural materials to make your own woodland shelter, learn how to identify woodland flora and fauna to enhance your survival skills. Use a variety of hand tools, have a go at splitting wood and making your own items out of natural material. Develop your own campfire skills and learn how to safely site, build and manage your own campfire.


Our gymnastics holiday club will be led by highly qualified coaches who will ensure a fun yet structured experience for all participants. Whether your child is a beginner or has previous gymnastics experience, our program is designed to accommodate and challenge children of all skill levels. Feel free to invite friends and family members to participate in this exciting event!

We offer full days that run Monday and Wednesday 9:15am - 3:00pm, £26 per day per children. Additionally we offer half days Monday to Friday 9:15am-12:45pm, £20 per day per children. (Excluding bank holiday Mondays)
