FREE Baby and Toddler sessions at your local library!

Updated: Apr 22

Did you know that lots of libraries run baby, toddler and preschool sessions for FREE!

We've been visiting the library regularly since my first born was just a few weeks old. As well as books of course, there is nearly always a quiet, child friendly area to sit and chill with your little one or give them a bit of time to crawl and explore in a safe space.

But as well as all that, many libraries offer a weekly session of stories, songs and more!

Check out the dates and times for all local Nottingham libraries below!

INFORMATION CORRECT AS OF DEC 2023

Nottingham City Libraries

Information on the sessions - from Nottingham Libraries Website

Totstime and play sessions are relaxed and friendly, perfect for all under 5s. Totstimes are lively and interactive half hour sessions, suitable for all babies and toddlers. They are run by library staff and include a story, singing, instruments and puppets.

Nottinghamshire County Council Libraries (Inspire)

Information on the sessions - from Inspire Libraries Website

Rattle, Rhyme and Roll sessions are relaxed, friendly rhyme sessions for babies and toddlers. Take advantage of this fabulous opportunity to share rhymes new and old, introduce your child to the library environment, and meet other parents too! Sessions last about 30 minutes and are completely free.

Storyhullabaloo sessions are relaxed, interactive story and rhyme sessions for under fives and their parents and carers. Babies and young children love stories, songs and rhymes. These, fun and friendly sessions are a great way to help build a love of books and find new stories to share together.

All sessions last about 30 minutes and are free.

As a reminder - these sessions are nearly always TERM TIME ONLY. The libraries in Nottingham normally run different sessions with activities suitable for older children in the school holidays

**If you are making a special trip to the library for one of these events, I would advise checking the Library's social media channels or ringing the library directly to be sure the session is definitely on.**

If you are travelling in the UK and looking for things to do with your baby or toddler, then I would highly recommend checking out the local council and library website to see if there are any free drop in sessions available - remember, you do not normally have to be a member of the library to attend these sessions. They are *normally* drop in sessions but the websites should have any booking requirements listed.
