February Half Term Events in Nottingham 2024

With Pancake Day, Lunar New Year and Valentines Day all falling within Nottingham's Half Term week this year plus the Festival of Science, there are plenty of exciting events to keep the little ones entertained!

Country Parks and Outdoor Adventures


Mansfield Town Centre

Join us for Mansfield District Council's 2024 Light Night at Carr Bank Park from Saturday 10 February until Tuesday 13 February between 4pm and 8pm daily.

Weekends in January and Every day in February

Our first family trail of the year is all about our little feathered friends!

Take a stroll around the crags and look out for the hidden birds and their letters. Collect all the letters and rearrange them to discover the hidden word. When you're finished return to reception to receive your prize and a copy of the 2024 RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch tally sheet to complete at home.

Trail sheets are £3 and available from Reception during our opening hours. No booking necessary.

Sensing the Brain

An interactive installation using quantum centres to detect electrical activity in the brain – the interactive display lets you see your own brain waves in coloured lights!

Clumber Park

Half Term Fun at Clumber Park

10 - 18 February.

From wild adventures in the woods to family bike rides around the estate, explore and connect with nature at Clumber Park this February half term.

Opening on 10 February, Clumber’s new ‘50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ room, provides families with all the inspiration needed to begin a 50 things journey. From getting to know a tree and building a den, to creating wild art and orienteering. There are so many activities to take part in and tick off around the park.

Join the team at Lake Brew in Hardwick village on Tuesday 13 & Wednesday 14 February from 10.30 for a free ‘Love a Bug’ crafting session, making bug hotels for insects and mini beasts.

 

Hardwick Hall

Get hands on at Hardwick Hall and explore the delights of natural play. With activity stations in and around the Stableyard, a winter warmer pick-me-up is never too far away!

The mud kitchen and bamboo chutes set are where young adventurers thrive. Watch as they sculpt, create, and revel in the joy of messy play. If a family trail is on the cards, become a budding bird expert and navigate through Lady Spencer’s wood armed with spotter sheets available from Visitor Reception.

The Gruffalo Party Trail at Sherwood Pines

The Gruffalo is celebrating his 25th birthday and to celebrate, everyone is invited to take part in a brand-new forest adventure.

Follow the trail to help find the missing party items to give the Gruffalo a birthday to remember. Search for balloons, pine cones, apples and the Gruffalo himself, and complete fun activities and rubbings as you go along.

The trail is free to take part but you can buy a trail pack for £4. This includes an activity booklet, headband, sew on patch and more!

Join in to make a sculpture that changes our viewpoint. Take a peek, have a look, go round or go through. Play between as the sculptures grow, connect, and occupy the space. Oh, and don’t forget to take a selfie!

The workshops are drop-in; however, we invite you to book a space for your session as spaces are limited.

Erewash Museum

We are so excited to see the return of The Big Dot! This interactive exhibition asks visitors to join in creating this piece of artwork by collecting dots from reception and adding your own dotty masterpiece to the Lally Gallery space. We look forward to seeing this grow throughout the whole of February. This exhibition is free to take part in and suitable for all ages.

The tearoom is also open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11am to 3pm serving lite bites and refreshments.

Science Fun Days

Come along and join in some fun, hands-on experiments and activities in your local library. At the there will be a range of activities led by scientists, researchers and students based in Nottinghamshire, they will explore a range of STEM topics and specialisms and teach you all about the work that they do.

Inflatable Planetarium at Nottingham Central Library

Welcome to the University of Nottingham’s Inflatable Planetarium: ‘The Inflativerse’. Book to see one of our tours of the night sky where we will guide you on a tour of the constellations including a few stories from the ancient Greeks! From great bears to ancient heroes it is enjoyable for the whole family and will leave you with a greater appreciation for the night sky.

Suitable for all ages. When booking your tickets, please include all adults and children attending. Unfortunately the planetarium is not currently wheelchair accessible.

There will be eight sessions and booking is essential: 10am, 10.30am, 11am, 11.30am, 12pm, 12.30pm, 1pm and 1.30pm. Each show is around 20 minutes long and run on the half hour so please make sure you arrive on time!
